This replacement 1-inch - 14 thread boat trailer castle nut has 12 slots for cotter key insertion and is sized to fit standard 1-inch trailer spindles. This spindle nut is a great way to secure your castle nut to your spindle and keep your hub assembly in place. The 12 slot style of castle nut is commonly used on spindles with offset cotter key holes, where the extra slots provide more paths for the cotter key to pass through than a traditional 6 slot castle nut. This nut is especially useful for those that cannot pass a cotter key through their current castle nut setup, as the 12 slot construction might be the solution. This nut is compatible with all of our Black Painted Steel Straight and Drop Axles as a drop-in replacement. This is a useful steel replacement castle nut for a wide range of trailer axle brands, and a great option for spindles that use cotter keys.
