This hot dipped galvanized boat trailer V-guide on will help guide the bow of your boat to center up on your trailer. Made out of 1/8 galvanized steel, sleeved with 2 inch pvc and caps, this v-guide will save you time when loading your boat on your trailer. Rough width from Tip to Tip is 42 inches. The v-guide will attach to your trailers cross-members by using a 2 inch galvanized hat bracket and two 1/2 in x 3 in x 4 5/16 in galvanized U-bolts that are included in this kit. If you do not currently have this assembly on your trailer, the correct location for it would be your forward most cross member.

We mostly see this item on trailers with a short cross member connecting the frame of the trailer together a couple feet before the winch post. In most cases, this would be a 3" x 3" straight galvanized or aluminum beam. In this kit, you have the correct hardware to complete the installation. When the U-Bolts are tightened down, the 2" x 2" galvanized tubing portion of the Bow Support becomes fixed.

Ideally, you want this V support to make contact with the hull of the boat when installing, but it is not necessary in every application. The amount of support and height level really depends upon your particular needs. We would suggest that you first install the v guide at a determined height. When you take your next boat trip, take note of the process of loading your boat. Do you need more height, or less height? The goal of this product is not only to help guide your boat towards the center of your trailer, but also help the bow of your boat reach the desired height to make contact with your winch stand. Their is not necessarily a correct adjustment rule standard, you simply have to test fit a height and adjust from their. Upon first use, take it slow, paying attention to the moment when your Bow Guide is contacted, to see the effect it has on the boat. At that point, decide if you need more or less support for the boat to reach the ideal loading position. Also, keep in mind that steeper ramps will change the dynamics of loading. It is always recommended to load your boat at a safe speed to prevent any damage to your gel coat.

Keep it simple
About five years ago my V-guide rusted out and I decided to put front bunks on the trailer like some others at the ramp. Big mistake. The came loose, they rusted out and there are twice as many u-bolts on the trailer. I went back to the V-guide and could not be happier. It's well galvanized and should last as long as any other part could be expected when dunked in saltwater twice weekly. As far as this company goes, they ship as fast as anybody I've seen. Never waited more than two days. Whomever does the shipping/packing should get a front row parking space at Boattrailerparts.com HQ. Everything is wrapped up and even though these are steel parts, every order is packed like fine china. Obviously, someone cares and I appreciate that. Great company. Thanks again.
